Buying guide

Swim spa or pool?

We sell both, so this one has no thumb on the scale: space, cost, swimming quality, maintenance and year-round use, compared honestly.

Why this comparison is honest

Most “swim spa vs pool” articles are written by someone who only sells one of them. We install fiberglass pools and sell Platinum swim spas, often to neighbors on the same street. We genuinely do not mind which one you pick — so here is how we help our own customers decide.

Choose a swim spa if…

  • You swim or train for exercise. The adjustable current gives you an endless lane in 19 feet; the Titan and Eros are built for exactly this.
  • Your yard or setbacks are tight. A pad and a crane day replace excavation, decking and most of the approvals weight.
  • You want hot and cold in one unit. The dual-zone Helios runs a training lane and a hot spa at the same time.
  • You want year-round use with one machine — swim, recover, soak, all heated, all seasons.

Choose a pool if…

  • The backyard is the point. Kids, floats, barbecues, a landscape built around water — nothing replaces a pool for that.
  • You want real open-water swimming and have the length for it: our swim & lap designs run to 40 feet.
  • You are investing in the property. A well-done pool and deck transform how a Florida home lives and shows.
  • You want both experiences permanently: pool + spa designs like the X-Line 9 ($73,990, heat pump included) build the hot tub into the pool.

The third option nobody mentions

Plenty of our clients split the difference: a compact pool (from $37,990) plus a hot tub from $6,990, or a pool now and a cold plunge for recovery. If your budget sits around the mid-$40,000s, you are genuinely choosing between one large swim spa and a compact-pool-plus-hot-tub pairing — come sit in both at the showroom before you decide.

Deciding questions

Which is cheaper, a swim spa or a pool?

They overlap more than people expect. Our fiberglass pools start at $37,990 installed. Swim spa pricing is quoted per project, and industry estimates typically run $25,000 to $50,000 before the concrete pad and electrical. The real difference is running style: a swim spa is one self-contained machine; a pool is a landscape project.

Can you actually swim in a swim spa?

Yes. Our Platinum swim spas use the River Jet system: a wide, adjustable current you swim against in place, like a water treadmill. The Titan runs two 6 BHP swim pumps; serious swimmers train in them year-round.

Does a swim spa need a special electrical hookup?

Yes: our Platinum models need a dedicated 60 amp, 240V circuit (the dual-zone Helios uses a 50 + 60 amp configuration). A licensed electrician installs the circuit, and we confirm the exact requirement for your model before delivery.

Which one fits a small yard?

The swim spa, almost always. Our models run roughly 14 to 19 feet long and about 7.5 feet wide, sit on a concrete pad with no excavation, and can even come along if you move. Our smallest pools start around 13 feet, but they are permanent construction with decking around them.

Can I have warm water AND a cool swim?

That is exactly what a dual-zone swim spa does. The Platinum Helios keeps two separate bodies of water: a swim zone at training temperature and a spa zone hot, at the same time. A pool plus a hot tub achieves the same thing with more space and budget.

Try both in one visit

The tiebreaker is sitting in one.

Swim spas on the floor, pool shells and finished projects to compare. Twenty minutes in the showroom usually settles it.
